Growing up my family always had a garden with the essentials: tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, faggiolina, hot peppers (pepperoncino), squash, onions, chives, basil, parsley, strawberries and raspberries . Years ago my grandfather even built a greenhouse which housed a variety of fruits and vegetables which he looked after with such love and care. My grandfather is now deceased and the greenhouse is no longer there but I feel that keeping the tradition alive is important, so today I went to the market with my grandmother to select the plants we needed. She got the classics and I picked up a variety of herbs to plant in pots on my 2 x 4 balcony!!!
